Toward Equality: The Global Empowerment of Women

The Fulbright New Century Scholars Program, an initiative of the Fulbright Scholar Program, brings together annually 25-30 outstanding research scholars and professionals from the U.S. and around the world. NCS fellows engage in multidisciplinary collaboration on a topic of global significance under the leadership of a Distinguished New Century Scholar Leader, an individual selected for expertise and standing in the area of the research topic as well as for the ability to approach the topic from an interdisciplinary perspective. For the academic year 2004-2005, the research focus is "Toward Equality: The Global Empowerment of Women."

"No go" list of protected areasAfter the discussions that took place at the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), the Shell Group proclaimed as a first company in the world to accept the UNESCO list of world-protected areas, where it should produce or exploit no gas or oil. The so-called "no go" list of protected areas is becoming part of the Shell's business in the best possible way - said one of the presidents of this international company, Sir Phillip Watts.
