European year of education through sport
The year 2004 was announced by the European Commission a year of education through sport. On that occasion, the European Commission will organize and support several initiatives that promote the educational value of the sport.
INTRAK
A course for capacity building
"Intrak" is organizing an introductory course for capacity building that focuses on the understanding of the process of building and strengthening the capacity from organization's perspective. Capacity building occurs on different levels, on individual level, on organization level and wider in the surrounding. This course is concentrated on building the organization's capacity and offers the organizational approach in the NGO work.

The regulations for racial equality are late
The European Commission is deeply concerned for the fact that the EU members have not passed the new regulations for racial discrimination yet. Many countries missed the deadline (19.07.2003) for changing the legislation. Speaking at the conference "Fight against racial discrimination: from theory to practice", that took place on 21 July in Milan, Ana Dimantopoly, commissioner for employing social works, sent a clear message to the EU governments for the need of introducing the new regulations in the national legislations.
Merkator
Network of several language schools
The European Centre for Ethnic Minorities and Nations - CIEMEN, supported by the European Commission, was founded at the web-portal "Merkator". Merkator's goal is to promote the right for equality of the minority groups and nations' languages. Within this initiative, a network of bilingual or three lingual elementary schools throughout Europe was established.
