Macedonian Civic Platform
Conference on the legal framework
The Macedonian Center for International Cooperation and the Open Society Institute – Macedonia Foundation, on behalf of the Macedonian Civic Platform, organized a Regional Conference on the Legal Framework, which took place on 24 and 25 September in Skopje. The Conference was organized in cooperation with the European Centre for Nonprofit Law (ECNL) from Budapest.
This event was part of the project “Supporting the National Civic Forum/Platform” financed by the European Union and managed by the European Agency for Reconstruction.
The goals of the conference were: exchanging experiences and reviewing the situation in the region in order to contribute to the current reform for improving the legal and the fiscal framework in the Republic of Macedonia; to generate concrete proposals for improving the working version of the changes in the Law for Civil Society Organizations and Foundations; and to exchange experiences regarding the so-far application of the new regulations for the civil society organizations and foundations. Several theme-discussions took place on the topics of: right to associating; management; economic activities and tax incentives; financing the associations and foundations by the state; organization of public interest; so-far experiences from the application of the Law for Donations and Sponsorship in the public activities; presentation of the Law on Volunteering and the opportunities it offers. The final part of the Conference consisted of activities in two working groups, one on which was on: What should the strategy for developing the volunteering in the Republic of Macedonia address? And Experiences from the application of the Law for Donations and Sponsorship in the Public Activities and Further Activities. Participants at the conference were representatives from the institutions on central level, members of the Macedonian Civic Platform and other civil society organizations, media, etc.
