Victims of the century - when will it stop?

"This planet gave us sand, sun, water, heavenly perfume and flowers on the earth and we destroyed everything because we are made of stone, people made of stone. We can smell the lie even with a blocked nose- a lie is a lie and which and where is the truth? Besides the other, our people were left with another gift - the waiting. So, when will we put an end to being silent witnesses of the slow dying, aware of all that, and yet so powerless to do anything. We have not been so cruel, the bad and unhealthy environment turned us into creatures unable even to think. We were so burnt by this "famous Smeltery" that we even became cruel to ourselves. Fortunately, the dream is more than happiness. If someone asked us how we felt today, we would certainly say - "much worse than yesterday". The fact that in the children's hair there is seven times more lead than it is allowed and three times more in the placenta of pregnant women, is also alerting. Moreover, we, however, do not do anything, although we are familiar with our human rights stated in the Universal Human Rights Declaration and the International Children Rights Convention, signed by Macedonia 11 years ago.

As children, we have a right to listen to music, play basketball, go to school, but we also have a right to live in a healthy environment, a right that has not been respected for more than 30 years now. Act 2 from the Children Rights Convention states that "No one has the right to reduce our rights, regardless of our race, skin color, our gender and the God we believe in.!" The country is obliged to provide full realization of our rights foreseen in the Children Rights Convention. All this has been well written on paper, but in practice, we, our rights, the rights of children and young people from Veles are completely violated, and except for our parents, no institution in charge cares about our disturbed mental and physical health, they do not care that the environment we live in is a source of diseases and we are direct victims of those diseases!

According to the Universal Human Rights Declaration, anyone has the right to be recognized as a person in front of the law. Act 20 from that declaration states that everyone has the freedom to gather and associate in peace. All of us who feel endangered by the smeltery gathered together last year with the mayor of our town, Mr. Ace Kocevski, we asked that the alarm for Veles is activated, but until now, there was no reaction, on the contrary, the institutions in charge left us with the bitter impression of remaining deaf to it.

The town is the sufferer and the citizens are the victims - when will it all end?

If anyone could feel what the children soul feels when they received their daily medical therapy and faces the pain and the suffering, I believe that the friendly given hands for game and comfort and the humanity and the consciousness of the adults will contribute to alleviate the condition of some children and contribute to the complete healing of others. Therefore, in the name of truth, justice and hope, we ask for SUPPORT form all NGOs and foundations in Macedonia for:

-Performing microelement analyses of 80 children with health problems from Veles at the Biotic Medicine Center in Moscow, which would mean diagnosing and appropriate therapy for healing the examined children

-Preventive protection of all citizens of Veles by dislocating the lead and zinc Smeltery sections;

-Sannation of eco-pollution consequences which is mostly reflected on children's health, should be regulated by mutual involvement of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Labor and Social Policy through appropriate legal procedure for financial support for medical therapies, surgical interventions and climate rehabilitations.

Let our appeal touch the hearts of all sensible people in Macedonia, because we, children and young people from Veles, have the right of life, present and future.

Our hearts are wide open - like that of Racin- to hug the whole world. What about yours???
