Summer University Prishtina 2003This summer the University of Prishtina and “Academic Training Association” are organizing the third edition of the Summer University Prishtina in Prishtina, Kosovo (SCG). The program is going to gather together on one place the regional and international professors and lectors in a period of three weeks, and there are going to be 30 courses and workshops from the field of humanity, law, economics, social sciences, art, medicine and natural sciences. Serbia and Montenegro
Serbian NGO Federation (FENS) has been foundedAt the constitutive meeting called “United citizens”, which took place in Belgrade, from 14 to 16 February this year, representatives of 229 NGO, which cover 102 municipalities in Serbia with their programs, founded the Serbian NGO Federation (FENS). After a year of activities directed towards collecting as greater number of NGOs as possible, the initiative managed to complete the first phase. |  |
Since last month
Serbia and Montenegro – member of the Council of EuropeSince 3rd April this year, Serbia and Montenegro has become a member of the Council of Europe. This decision was made at the Council of Europe Ministries’ Committee on 23rd March this year. Serbia and Montenegro has obliged to join Council of Europe’s Statute and to sign the European Convention for Human Rights. |  |

Mama has turned down USAID supportDuring the USA military intervention against Iraq, the Multimedia Institute decided to revoke the contract by which the USA Government had granted them $100.000, aimed at the development of the civic society sector in Croatia. Towards the end of 2002, the Multimedia Institute got financial support for two years amounting to $100.000 through the Program for development of the civic society sector of Croatia, implemented by the Academy for Educational Development (AED). |  |
In Bulgaria
Macedonian minority is unitingIn Novo Selo, Macedonia, on 5th April, there was a meeting between the organizations of the Macedonian minority in Bulgaria. The meeting was organized by the World Macedonian Congress, and there were participants of OMO Ilinden, Pirin, VMRO-independent and other organizations of the Macedonian minority in Bulgaria. They signed a protocol for forming an umbrella-organization. In Bulgaria, according to the 2002 census, live about 5.000 Macedonians. |  |
Albania
287 children at “The World’s Biggest Lesson”The Center for Children’s Rights of Albania – in cooperation with the education authorities in Tirana and the Global march against children’s labor, have organized “The World’s Biggest Lesson”, with participation of 287 children from four schools in Tirana, as part of the Global Campaign for Education.
