Training for journalists correspondents

How to make the events that happen outside the capital city attractive for the editors of the national media?

The Association of journalists of Macedonia on 20th and 21st December held the last training for journalists correspondents.

“The request for organizing this kind of training originated from the regional centre of the Association in Strumica”, said Viktorio Jakovleski from AJM. “The colleagues considered that they had a problem with the attractiveness of events outside Skopje. Because the other regional centres of AJM recognised that as a problem as well, we thought that a training should be organized on which the journalists correspondents will discuss how to present the events from the places they report from in a more proper way in order to be attractive for the editors of the national media”, he added. The training was held by journalists who have worked for a long time as correspondents or editors responsible for the corresponding net in their medium. Journalists from all regions where AJM has regional centres - Strumica, Stip, Bitola, Ohrid, Tetovo and Kumanovo were included in the training. Over 100 journalists visited the training.

Interethnic relations – imperative for work

The Balkan association, the Union of the Albanian woman - branch Bitola and the Croatian-Macedonian association for friendship and cooperation started implementing the multiethnic project “Colours of the rainbow” these days, which originates from the aspiration of more civil organizations towards improving and stabilizing the interethnic relations in Bitola, especially after 2001.

Workshops will be organized within the project that will be realized through five seminars with young people from Bitola at the age of 14 to 15 from all nationalities that live in the town. The topics at the seminars mostly cover the cultural characteristics, tradition, religion, communication and solving conflict situations, and experts from different areas will teach on the seminars: pedagogues, etnologists and activists from the civic sector. The first foreseen topic is with general character and covers the Macedonian culture.

The project is financed by the Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia (FOSIM), within the programme for improving the interethnic relations in the country.
