Macedonian Centre for Energetic Efficiency - MACEF

Volunteer Scientific Association, member of RENEUR

The Macedonian Centre for Energetic Efficiency - MACEF from Skopje is a volunteer scientific association, founded to act on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia as well as outside its borders. It has been active since December 2002 and it is a member of the international network for energetic efficiency RENEUR (Regional Network for Efficient Use of Energy and Water Resources) that also includes Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Moldavia, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro and Croatia.
National coordinator of the project that MACEF realizes in Macedonia is Violeta Keckarovska from the Ministry of Economy and a delegated national expert is PhD Konstantin Dimitrov from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering from Skopje, which is at the same time the president of this organization. MACEF is supported and realizes close cooperation with the foundation "ALLIANCE TO SAVE ENERGY", founded by the USA Senate and partially financially supported by USAID. It is also a member of the Association of Consulting organizations and offers professional expert services from its field of work, in the country and abroad.

MACEF main goals are: promotion of measures, counsels and expertise on efficient management of the consuming energy and drinking water, but also participation in their realization; participation in the creation of the energetic policy and energetic resources development planning, development and promotion of the scientific thought in the range of efficient use of resources, preparation and implementation of action plans for energetic efficiency at the local government units. MACEF works on uniting the engineers, financers, environmentalists and economists in a joint activity in front of the state executive bodies, on providing stronger mutual cooperation, exchange of experience and mutual assistance between the members of similar foreign organizations. One of the foreseen goals of this organization is the intention to become a member of the international consulting organizations from which experts are recruited for consulting services on international projects.

MACEF is an organization that deals with providing intellectual and other expert services in the following areas: designing and reconstruction of heating systems and ventilating schools and other public objects by applying modern methods for energetic efficiency, air-conditioning, heating, cooling systems and lighting; transfer of electric energy, power transformers with high and low voltage, recycling and using the city waste as a source of energy, using alternative sources of energy, preparation of ecological projects and expertises.

MACEF has 41 members - experts on several profiles: mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, technological engineers, economists, and linguists. Fifteen of them have the title PhD and five are Masters in Science.
