“Medjashi” called for education for all children

Education for everybody!

At Macedonia Square, a chain, formed by fifteen pairs of children hands, was united under one, loudly spoken motto – Education for Everyone! Under this motto, organized on 27 April by the First Children Embassy in the World “Medjashi”, the children called their 18 thousand friends from Macedonia and 80 million from the world to join them studying and sit together with them in the school desks.

“Holding banners with different contents in their hands, the children asked for education loudly. “I want to become a doctor”, “More than 15 thousand handicapped are out of schools”, “I want to study, too”, were only some of the massages that greeted the Prime Minister Gruevski at the square. To express his support to the campaign, he wrote in the open book: “Knowledge is strength, a treasure that no one can ever take from you”. He emphasized that 50 percent of the population in Macedonia has only completed primary education, which is devastating. Therefore, as he emphasized, there will be free education for the children, but also fines for the parents who don’t send their children to school. “We want to build hundred schools and 180 gyms, which has not happened before. We stand for a better quality of the education, with new contents, we introduce a foreign language (English) from grade one and a computer for every student. Secondary school will also be compulsory”, said Gruevski.

The activities of this campaign were going on as part of the global week for including the children in the education that is going on in over 00 countries in the world. Its goal is to alert the world governments on the condition of children inclusion in the educational system. The action in Skopje was supported by a number of well-known people, the Ministry of Interior, Global March against Children Labor and Cosmofon, as well as several domestic civil society organizations, municipalities and schools.
