10-year anniversary of the Roma Community Center
The Roma Community Center “Drom” from Kumanovo celebrated its ten-year anniversary in December. “Drom” is well-known in its town and throughout the country for its activities for including Roma people in the social currencies.
This Roma organization has implemented a number of projects in its ten-year existence, primarily in the field of health care and education, housing, social protection and improving the infrastructure. So far, this NGO has realized about ten projects. “Drom” is also active in raising the awareness of the Roma population for more massive inclusion of Roma children in pre-school activities, in primary education, then high school and finally in higher education. The book fund for the high school students that do not receive scholarship is one of the supports provided by “Drom”. In Kumanovo, “Drom” is active in reconstructing the houses of Roma people and dislocating their homes where conditions had been extremely bad. In the field of health care, the organization implemented a project for vaccinating Roma children and it carried out training for health education of Roma people.
One of the things this organization has achieved is the award for second place for making action plans for Roma development, awarded by the European Commission.
