A jubilee of two media

“Nacionalna volja” and the Macedonian Informative Agency – MIA

All over the world, the media are considered to be an important segment of the civil society, and the history of their work is related to the history of this sector. Such is the example of two media, which are celebrating their jubilees these days.

Twenty-five years ago, in Sydney, Australia, began the publication of the newspaper of the Macedonians from Pirinska Macedonia – “Narodna Volja”. After the headquarters had temporarily moved to London, Great Britain, in 1992, it was finally established in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. It is published monthly and presents the activities and the problems of interest to the Macedonian minority in the Republic of Bulgaria.

The Macedonian Informative Agency – MIA, as a public informative service established in independent Macedonia, started working in 1988, six years after the day when the Macedonian Parliament had passed the decision for its establishment. It was established with a Government resolution; its aim is to distribute non-biased, on-time and true information to the public.
