Stock - breeders’ association “Svetlost” – Mirkovci

The stock - breeders association from Mirkovci, Skopje is a new NGO – it was established in October this year. It was established as a result of the need for association and mutual action of the stack – breeders in the region of Skopje. In the Cucer-Sandevo municipality where this association is active, the stockbreeders are not informed and educated enough about the novelties in stockbreeding, which results in great losses, insufficient development and loss of security for the existence of this profession.

The target region of this association are all municipalities in and around Skopje. For the time being, this association has 60 members, its president is Marjan Bajeski from Mirkovci, Skopje.

The goal of this association is to promote the agricultural production through immediate introduction of farmers to the latest achievements in the agricultural production. This is realized through organizing various education seminars, lectures, trainings, exchanging experiences with farmers from Macedonia and abroad, representing the farmers’ interests in front of governmental and non-governmental organizations, finding and organizing new markets and establishing contacts with foreign buyers, using and applying scientific-technical knowledge, bookkeeping, encouraging and directing young people’s interest to the stock – breeding, etc.

One of this association’s priorities is the production of quality fresh/raw milk that meets the EU standards for getting a standardized final product and successful placement of fresh milk and its products. Another task will be provision of cheaper fodder and other repro materials in order to reduce the stock – breeders’ expenses and stimulate them to gain more profit. After this goals have been accomplished, as one of the priorities of this association would be opening their own milk factory where the association members would be stockholders. Soon, the association intends to make a logo with a protection bar code that will serve for successful placement of final products and a guarantee of their quality.
