We continue with new energy

The summer holidays are over. We are coming back with new energy, trying to continue filling the civil world around us with new activities, gaining new experiences from the challenges that will become our reality in the time that follows. Many traditional donors, long-term supporters of the civil sector in Macedonia, are leaving. Many organizations are concerned by this “problem”. However, it will give us new wings to learn how to seek alternative solutions, so we may look for a “market” outside Macedonia to show if we know, what we know and how much we know.

One thing is for certain. Many domestic organizations started moving in a different direction. They rely more and more on the domestic and their own sources. The law, according to which, a civil society organization can set up a limited liability company. And to redirect the profit it gains exclusively for its basic activity, the EAR donations that are usually realized through certain ministries, the donations from governments, directly or through our government, the donations and the foundations of the domestic companies, part of the budget assets planned for the civil society organizations, etc., are only some of the alternative solutions for the survival and the existence of the civil society organizations in Macedonia in the following period, without any bigger turbulences. We have to resort to them, since the Kosovo crisis, or the Macedonian one, exist no more. Those were the times when most of the foreign donations came, a time when a lot of Macedonian civil society organizations got used to getting “easy” donations. It may not be easy.

It is now time that we rolled up our sleeves and direct the new energy the right way, in the direction of the necessary changes.
