Children are Same Even When they are Different

The European Commission Humanitarian Office – ECHO is financing the “Campaign for children with special needs social involvement” under the motto “Children are same even when they are different”, which was promoted on 21 March, this year. The campaign will be implemented by UNICEF in cooperation with the Republic of Macedonia Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
The objective of this campaign is to de-institutionalize the children with special needs stay from the present classical centers and actively involve them into the activities of the community. The campaign foresees the opening of daily centers in Tetovo, Veles, Prilep, Delcevo and Manastirec near Makedonski Brod. These daily centers will be open rooms.
There are 3 300 children with special needs registered in Republic of Macedonia. For this purpose, the European Commission will donate 2,6 million Euro, and the project also includes strengthening the public awareness for the needs and protection of these children.
