People: Koco Andonovski

Our biggest problems are the mentality and the prejudices

Professional experience: Copywriter and scriptwriter of several advertising campaigns, scriptwriter of the series of documentaries: “People, time, love” Art Media, scriptwriter and director of the campaign “Closely” by OSCE and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Macedonia for approaching the police to the common citizens, promotion of “The police and the community”, etc.

Engagements in the civil sector: One of the founders of Art Media, president of the Macedonian Association for Free Sexual Orientation – MASSO.

Ambitions: To create the things that so far are only inside

Hobbies and interests: Writing and photography/video

In his free time he reads: Various authors and literature. At the moment I am thrilled by the Japanese Haruki Murakami and his “Sputnik love”.

Where does he go in his free time: Mostly in restaurants, coffee bars, I also like a good house or trance party.

At weekends:  Through the Macedonian wilderness

Toughest decision: Opening myself in front of my family about my intimate life, confessing I was gay.

Which national (local) problem does he find especially important and why: The mentality and the prejudices are the most important problems in our country. The mentality makes us intolerant of the differences we live with. When we pretend we accept them, we forget that it is not the point to accept only those that are “acceptable” for us. The prejudice that we work right, but there is no money, so we can’t do anything about it, is another problem. We don’t have a standard, we don’t have standards in anything because we don’t work the way we should. We are a nation that wants to avoid,  “if possible”, any responsibility and work. That makes us narrow-minded and distracts us from the real values. We leave the work halfway through, therefore everything in our lives remains unfinished and partial.

Which global problem does he find especially important and why: The philosophy of helpless and saviors. A philosophy which is necessary of the aggressive and material society to conquer/survive, not respecting the standards it declaratively stands for.

What would he change in Macedonia and in the world: Everyone to fulfill what they have promised, which would be enough to make the world a bearable place for living.

Advice (message): I have decided to live!

He could never: Say never.
