The prize was awarded for the so far successful realizations of the organization’s program activities, especially in direction of promotion and support of strengthening women’s political and social role, as an essential aspect in the civil society development. The organization’s activities are joining forces and efforts with the purpose of getting a better effect of the planned program determinations in a form of legal acts which result in improvement of women and young people in general, and professionalism and responsibility are considered to be a characteristic of our organization’s work.
It is said that the state is a pillar upon which democratic order in the system is organized and a legal frame through which citizens’ political, economic and social activities are managed, while civil society represents the hearth of democracy. Civil society could be understood as a sphere in which there is a widely spread network of professional or amateur associations, working groups of different kinds, non governmental organizations etc, determined as collective actors in the civil society, and through which citizens cultivate feelings of solidarity and participation in the whole of interrelations.
Local self-government is on a level closest to the citizens and its immediate responsibility to provide surroundings that lead to economic development and a strong civil society. The development of ‘Kumanovka’ in the municipality is of highest importance for its democratic values and incentive of citizens’ awareness. The role and contribution in promoting and building a democratic culture on all social levels is an expression of the need to co-operate with the municipality, in order to respond efficiently to the local community challenges.
Our municipality is open for co-operation, thus promoting mutual respect, partnership and transparency in communication. The mayor and the Council of the municipality of Kumanovo support the process of participation of the Women’s Organization in the creation of communities’ policies, such as balance, corrective and supplementary in development of democracy and democratic values. Together we deepen our co-operation with the purpose of learning good practice and exchanging experiences, as well as applying for partner grants, according to citizens’ needs, with the purpose of pointing out results from mutually realized projects, and the citizens will recognize the positive influence of the local self-government and civil society organizations. There is a will, vision and capacity to make a big step forward.
Civil society organizations are an equal partner in the realization of projects and programs, in the creation of new sustainable criteria for financial support, in strengthening mutual capacities in accordance with EU programs (2008-2013), and in the preparation of a program (written document) for cooperation between the local self-government and civil society organizations for a common approach in front of EU.
