Projects on culture and development promoted

Strengthening the cultural identity

 

The promotion of the projects supported by the Culture and Development Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs of Holland took place on 30th September at the Children Theatre Center in the Old Skopje Bazaar.

The promotion of the projects on the importance of the development of multiculturalism in Macedonia, as well as for the renovation of the Old Skopje Bazaar went well, regarding the great attendance. Melpomeni Korneti, Deputy-Minister of culture and Frederike de Man – Ambassador of Holland spoke at the promotion. The orchestras “Darhija” and “Pece Atanasovski” had impressive performances. , and on the richly decorated stage there were exponents displayed as part of the realized projects.

The programme is focused on two main fields for support: folk music/dance and traditional arts/crafts. Since the beginning of 2004, 7 projects have been supported and implemented: “Small traditions, great values” (Centre for Contemporary Arts – Skopje); “Supporting the protection of the folk values of the Tetovo communities” (Albanian Women Forum, Tetovo); “Old Crafts – Live witnesses of traditional culture” (Association for dignity of the handicapped, Stip); “Revitalization of the filigree tradition” (Aid to the artisans, Skopje); “Young people – bearers of the music richness and the oral tradition of Romas” (RCEC Darhia, Skopje); “Development of the Galicnik Heritage” (Association for cultural promotion of the Mijaks, Skopje); “Live tradition, relating the “Calgija” with the modern music” (Pece Atanasovski Orchestra, Skopje).

The primary goals of the culture and development programme are: strengthening the cultural identity or the self-awareness of a nation and group, further strengthening of different structures, important for the cultural development in one country, as well as spreading the cultural cooperation on the basis of equality of the different cultures. .
