The world day of blood donating celebrated

Blood donors deserve privileges in health care

Blood donors deserve to have the taken privileges returned, as are the right for free treatment, free medicine and a right for two days off work. Maybe losing these rights and the bad material position of the socially endangered families from the Debar region were the exact reason for selling their blood in Albania.

This information sounded strikingly in public, said at the celebration of the world day of blood donating 14th June, when in the City park in Skopje, under the motto “Celebrating your given blood” the blood donating action took part.

“It’s currently not a case, because we took some measures and we informed people that by selling blood a person can’t be healed. Now the voluntary blood donating is on a larger scale and last year we were on the fourth place in the country for blood donating. We animated the citizens with a personal or family example, and we improved blood donating also by finding sponsors, through which we provided modest presents. We pay great attention to young people, and an example were 80 students from the school “Zdravko Cockovski”, who donated blood”, says Ramadan Telkiu, municipal secretary in the Red Cross Debar, who has donated blood personally 150 times. He adds that now in Red Cross Debar there is precise register of all blood donors, and there is cooperation with the neighbouring Albania, because there is a lack of blood there. Telkiu pointed out that the Macedonian Government doesn’t motivate the blood donors and very soon should consider the issue of returning the privileges that these humane people deserve.
