Petition for the Law for approach to information

We want a modern Law!

In the open letters sent to the President of The Republic of Macedonia, the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Macedonia and the Macedonian Prime Minister, the non-governmental organizations ARTICLE 19, the foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia, PRO MEDIA and Transparency Macedonia express their concern about the flaws in the latest proposal of the Macedonian Law for free access to information. These associations think there is no real progress in the direction of it passing.

There is a petition enclosed with the letter, signed by representatives from 126 civil society associations from Macedonia. The associations call for on time passing of the Law for free access to information which would incorporate the ARTICLE 19’s (a global campaign for free expression) recommendations. According to them, the Law needs to be consistent with the international standards.
