Kosovo
Joint declaration of the Kosovo civil society
The civil society organizations that gathered to condemn the acts of violence that lasted for three days in March on Kosovo, invited the citizens to stop all protests and to stop expressing their anger in a destructive manner. They asked from the institutions to put their efforts in an active an efficient work and raise the security level for all citizens in Kosovo, primarily of Serbs who live in central Kosovo and the Albanian population in the north part of the river Ibar, as well as to stop the mutual accusations among the Kosovo population and the UNMIK institutions. In the joint declaration, the organizations stated, among other things, that UNMIK holds the direct responsibility for the security and the life of citizens, but also that the civil society representatives are willing to give their contribution. An ad hoc coordinative group was established, consisting of 15 non-governmental organizations that will plan and coordinate the civil sector's emergency actions.
