The home artisans with new ideas on the market

The organization “Aid to Artisans – Art to Artisans” on 11th July in the gallery “Press to exit” awarded the best in the third, published, annual design competition called “MADE in Macedonia”. 50 Macedonian designers and artisans took part at the competition with their designs and models, and the awards for design went to Biljana Kleckakoska for filigree jewellery, Sanja Boskova for a set for kitchen made of linen and Aleksandar Jakovlevski for a wooden chair. The honour award for design went to Elena Mehmeti for embroidered textile, Krste Gakov for contemporary wooden furniture, Sinisa Stamenkovski for embroidered set for table, Marina Bogoeva for jewellery made of shells and Marija Jovanovska for silver brooches.

The four-year project “MADE in Macedonia” is financed by the Government of the USA through the Agency for international development (USAID) in order to strengthen the home and foreign markets for handicraft products from Macedonia, through increasing the employment and the income of the artisans. The awards for this year winners, who respected the set criteria for potential of the product: cultural value, innovation and creativity, practical use of the design and permanence, were given by Mrs. Norun Vibju, president of the Management board of Aid to Artisans.
