World Romas’ Day: Let us keep the Roma tradition

The World Romas’ Day, 8 April, is celebrated every year with a single goal – to keep the specific tradition and culture of this people without their own country, but living and belonging to the whole world. In most countries in the world where Roma people live, their culture and tradition is cherished at the same time preventing it from extinguishing and melting into other cultures.
On this day many Roma NGOs, joined by those in Macedonia organize different activities and manifestations.

Milieukontakt Oost-Europa: Strategic environment seminar

The Macedonian office of the Dutch organization “Milieukontakt Oost-Europa” organizes a National strategic seminar for creating a vision for the ecological movement in Macedonia for 2002-2003. The Open space method will be applied at the seminar and the NGO representatives working in the field of environment will have to express their opinions and suggestions on the directions in which the efforts for environmental protection should move.
This event tends to become traditional and to serve as a basis for coalition and strategic work of the Macedonian NGOs working in the field of environment.

Planet Earth’s Day: Protection of our global home

This day, initiated as a national campaign in the USA, has been celebrated for over three decades throughout the world as an international day of our planet. 22 April is the occasion for the NGOs to refer to the governments, the business sector and other social factors, calling for cooperation in the efforts to protect and improve the environment on local and global level.
Traditionally, the Macedonian associations working in this field organize many activities aiming at strengthening the public awareness for environmental protection, especially with the children and the young people.

Balkan-Net: Wild World’s Protection

In the course of this month in Skopje, a presentation of the Balkan-Net project is going to take place. It involves a network of several non-governmental organizations from Macedonia, Greece, Albania, Serbia and Montenegro working in the field of Balkans wild fund protection.
The project and the network have been active for several years and they have realized many activities for protecting the brown bear, the wolf and the lynx in the Balkans, as well as their habitats, and above all the forest eco-systems.
