People: Fatmir Bitiki, MCIC

We should be more open towards receiving and giving feedback messages

Professional experience: After my graduation, I started working for the Macedonain Centre for International Cooperation. I have worked in various positions, from project associate/trainer to MCIC representative in Kosovo. At the moment, I am working as a coordinator of the capacity building programme and a trainer.

Engagement in the civil sector: All my experience is related to the civil sector.

Hobbies and interests: I keep saying that basketball is my hobby, although I have not been practicing it a lot lately. At the moment, driving is becoming my hobby.

Toughest decision: I cannot select one, though I hope my decisions have been right and that they have not harmed or offended anyone.

Ambitions: To be respected and “modestly” successful in my life. I want my success to be connected with what I can do, and not because I belong to a group, organization, community or whatever.

In his free time he reads: Mostly professional literature that I need for my job and my postgraduate studies.

Where does he go in his free time: I have relatively little free time and I use it to finish some work at home.

At weekends: I usually visit my parents or stay at home. If I had some more free time, I would go to a mountain, far from the dynamic and busy city life.

Which national/local problem does he find especially important and why: The biggest problem is the disrespect of the individual, regardless of who they are, without any additional adjectives, adverbs, or call it what you like. I do mind that there has to be something behind everybody, something like: oh, yes, this one’s “good”, or “bad”, but he’s “Albanian, Roma, Macedonian”, or, he’s “red, blond”, or…Until we forget and remove this from our “wise” heads, I remain a pessimist regarding our overall development.

Which global problem does he find especially important and why: It would be very hard and almost unimaginable to feel nothing regarding the global warming. Therefore, I consider this to be the biggest challenge to the society, as well as for me. I do care everyday how to contribute to its reduction or to minimize the sources that lead towards the global warming.

What would he change in Macedonia and the world? In Macedonia, I would definitely change the way people think when seeking solutions to the problems. From reactive, or, if I may say, passive, to proactive.

Advice/message: We should be more open towards receiving and giving feedback messages, which is a good way to develop/improve ourselves, both as individuals and as a society.

I could never: Tolerate injustice and not say anything if I see it happening.
