BRAIN DRAIN

Stop the Brain Drain

“Brain Drain” is a database for all citizens from the Republic of Macedonia who: completed their studies at foreign universities out of Macedonia, and/or are presently working abroad after they completed their university education in the Republic of Macedonia” – this can be read in the leaflet published within the “Brian Drain” project that has been carried out by the Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia. The aim of this project, which is one of its kind in Macedonia, is to record the intellectual capacity of the Macedonia citizens, especially younger people that can be placed in the “brain drain” category.
The database will contain information on the level of education, the professional skills and the professional experience. This database will be available to all Macedonian institutions, foreign offices and embassies that are interested in a certain profile and experience staff. In order to stop the brain drain from our country, the FOSIM has organized a system of various projects, the aim of which is to support our staff from abroad to return to Macedonia.

The project has a web-site, where the people interested can leave their details. The web-site address is: www.braindrain.org.mk. The FOSIM invites all those who had, in some way, been educated abroad, to report and leave their details in this base. That information will be used by FOSIM in the realization of their future projects and by other Macedonian institutions that are interested in employing professional staff. At the same time, it would present an opportunity to implement foreign experiences, practice and knowledge in Macedonia.
