A jubilee
The scouts celebrate the movement’s 100th anniversary
The Scouts’ Union of Macedonia has marked the 100th of the existence of the scout movement and the 10th anniversary of their membership in the World Scout Organization with a number of activities. In “Makedonija” Street, they distributed promotional and educational materials and at “Dom na gradeznici” they opened an exhibition of scout photographs. Then, in the City Park at “Skolka”, the youngest scouts learned the scout skills, and the older ones have performed the traditional hiking to the top of Vodno. Besides these activities, the scouts from the Macedonian units will take part in the European Conference in Portoroz in May, to here one scout will travel by bike. Sixty Macedonian scouts are preparing to go to England, where this year the jubilee event for all world scout organizations will take place. On 1 August, they will also mark the scout sunrise. “In cooperation with CARITAS, IN June, in Ohrid, we are going to realize the project “Gift for Peace”, by organizing a camp for Roma children who will be introduced to the scout skills for the first time”, says Kristina Kartovska from the “Sidro” unit.
