SID Forum Macedonia

Promoter of the informal education and the values of volunteering

Forum SID Macedonia (former PRONI project) is a non-governmental organization, which is part of the Balkan network of office Forum Sid. It has been operating in Macedonia since 2002, realizing cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Agency for Young and Sports, as well as with the municipalities Karpos and Tetovo. As an organization, it promotes the informal education and the values of volunteering. It main goal is to increase the sense of belonging to the community through the development of both the young people and the community. The main project activities it has been implementing are: informal education, youth activities, youth fund and youth policy. Through its activities, Forum Sid works on reducing the discrimination, applying the principles of tolerance, promoting equality among genders, intercultural learning, non-violent culture as a productive basis for safe society and volunteer work and development of the voluntarism for the benefit of the community in general.

The organization has been implementing the informal education through organizing an accredited university course on leadership and youth work development from the school for education and communication at the University of Joncoping – Sweden. It is a two level course – level A and level B.

Participants at this course acquire different skills and qualifications for youth workers or facilitators. Apart from that, they learn: social education, work with adolescents, individual work, group work, reconciliation and conflict management, as well as project management.

The youth fund consists of young volunteers from Skopje and Tetovo ho participate directly in the process of awarding grants to physical entities that have ideas for youth activities, but not enough finances for their realization. Forum Sid’s donor is the Swedish Agency for Development (SIDA). The organization has two offices and two youth clubs – in Skopje and in Tetovo. The Skopje office and the Youth Club are located in Fjodor Dostoevski Street 2 (local community Vlae) and the Tetovo office is located at the municipal administration barrack.
