"Sv. Preobrazenie" Monastery - Zrze

Museum exhibition and an atelier opened

The brotherhood of the monastery "Sv Preobrazenie" - Zrze, Prilep in cooperation with the organization "Horizont" have opened a museum exhibition and a woodcarving and iconographic atelier at the monastery complex. At the opening, which took place on 1 October, the present could see part of the artistic treasure of the monastery. Most of the exhibits were found in the last ten years at the monastery property, and so far they have not been published in scientific literature. The exhibition contains church and liturgical items and icons, anaphora from the 17th century, embroidered applications for clerical robes, woodcarving miniatures, parts of jewellery and small collection of old coins. Thanks to the atelier's work, part of the specifics of the woodcarving and iconographic art from Zrze will be authentically passed on to the new generation of authors.

The construction of the facility and the equipping of the museum's exhibition have been realized with financial support from the Norwegian government and the Foundation Open Society Institute - Macedonia.
