Coalition of 17 domestic NGOs
All for fair trial
“All for fair trial” is the name of the coalition whose members are 17 civil society organizations from the whole territory of the Republic of Macedonia. Its basic vision and mission is to follow the respecting of human rights and freedoms, especially of the international standards for fair trial through various forms of acting in the efforts to increase the level of their implementation, to initiate institutional and legal reforms, as well as to return the citizens’ trust in the judiciary and other institutions of the system. The structure of the Coalition is based on the idea for monitoring civil and criminal first instance cases in all courts in the Republic of Macedonia.
Its beginnings are linked with the uniting of 22 domestic civil society organizations in the realization of the project “Implementation of international standards for fair trial in the domestic courts and evaluation of the functioning of the Macedonian judiciary”, in order to, as the coalition’s executive director, Aleksandar Keltanoski says, to increase the public trust in the legal system and the judiciary, to identify the problems in the system and to point to the need of legal and institutional reforms, to increase the respect of the fair trial standards and to introduce the public with the standards of fair trial.
“Since its beginning, our organization has implemented a number of important projects, among which the current ones “Project for human rights – Police abuse: Use of alternative measures instead of imprisonment: Criminal-legal answer of the organized crime, as well as evaluation of the need for developing the monitoring programme in the court procedures regarding the corruption in the Republic of Macedonia”, says Keltanoski.
Members of the coalition are: the civil society association “Most” – Skopje; Youth Education Forum – Skopje; Council for prevention of juvenile delinquency – Kavadarci; Center for Democratic Development – Tetovo; Roma Rights Forum ARKA – Kumanovo; Femina – Kumanovo; Association for Democratic Initiatives ADI – Gostivar; Association for Roma rights ARRP – Stip; The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights – Skopje; The Association for Children Rights Protection DCI, Macedonian section; The First Children Embassy in the World MEDJASHI – Skopje; PHURT – Delcevo; The Association of Women Lawyers in the Republic of Macedonia; TEMIS – Skopje; Humanitarian Roma Association “Mesecina” – Gostivar; Civil society association Bitola; SPEKTAR – Stip and the Roma Association from Tikves – Kavadarci.
