MACEDONIAN ASSOCIATION “SPORT FOR ALL”
Improvement on the Recreation Habits
The Macedonian Association “Sport for all” is a young non-governmental organization from Skopje formed in January this year. “Sport for all” is a citizens’ association established for massive sport and recreation promotion regardless of the age, sex, race, ethnicity, socio-economic status, as well as the physical and mental possibilities.
The idea “sport for all” is something which has been existing in 170 countries. Representatives of the International Sport and Cultural Association (ISCA) visited Macedonia at the beginning of 2001, which resulted in the idea of establishing the Macedonian association.
“The idea is to work on bigger informing the citizens on the need to recreate, as well as the way to recreate in the right way. People become more passive and they do not have time to take care of their body. We are trying to improve their recreation habits, because we are all aware they need it. Taking into consideration that sport links people with by health, fun and friendship line, it is something that everyone needs. We believe that sports can be a “linking bridge” between people regardless of their differences, especially in our country”, says Mircho Savovski, president of the Association and a professor at the faculty of physical culture at the sport recreation department.
The members of the Association have so far taken part at various seminars, as project cycle management, at the congress “Crossing bridges through games”, held in Skopje where representatives of 20 countries took part. The Association was also a co-organizer of the sport-cultural manifestation in the event of the Day against smoking, together with the World Health Organization, UNICEF and other organizations.
In the future they are planning to take part at a great number of seminars and they have also applied projects to many organizations so they hope to get a positive answer from some of them. The Macedonian Association “Sport for all” is willing to cooperate with all NGO-s which share their vision and they believe they can cooperate through certain projects or other forms of activities.
