Moving from kitsch-parade towards constructive dialogueDuring a TV questionnaire on the streets of Skopje, some of the asked citizens of Skopje, at different age and sex, asked what 8th March was for them, answered the following: “Street stalls”, “An opportunity to celebrate the day in a good restaurant”, or “I will buy my mother and teacher some flowers”, as a Skopje pupil answered.

7 March – Teacher’s Day
The civil society organizations support the educationFor several year now, the Albanians in Macedonia celebrate 7 March – The Teacher’s Day. On this day by the end of the XIX century, the first school in Albanian was opened. On that occasion, in the beginning of the school year, several civil society organizations symbolically collect school materials for the pupils facing financial difficulties. In general, the condition with education in Macedonia is rather bad, regardless of the language used for its realization. |  |
Information Technologies Development Foundation
Raising the ICT levelThe information technologies development foundation has announced an advert in the media for 50 visitors to take part in the project called “An information and communication step forward towards the world standards”, providing an 80% donated computer education for student graduates in the last year of their studies with an average mark of 8 and above and for graduated unemployed (for up to two yeas) people with an average mark of 8 and above. |  |
Jubilees
A decade of Dnevnik and BBC in Macedonian“Dnevnik”, the first independent daily newspaper, set up by a group of young journalists from Macedonia, celebrated the first decade of its work on 20 March with a celebration and theatre show. The money from the tickets will be donated in humanitarian goals. Among the figures and facts which marked the ten-year anniversary of the paper are the 120 million sold copies, that is 3, 016 issues.

VolunteersAfter six months of collecting data and processing the results, the Working Group of the Initiative for Legal Regulation of the volunteers’ status in Serbia – the IZVoR Initiative prepared the brochure which states the results of the workshops where volunteers from different organizations had taken place, as well as the results obtained on the basis of the processed questionnaires filled in by NGO representatives from the whole country. |  |
