15 years Medienhilfe
The organization Medienhilfe was established 15 years ago in Zurich with a mission to work in ex-Yugoslavia. Towards the end of November 1992 a group of journalists from Zurich organized a public debate, whose main topic was the war (and the propaganda in the war) in Croatia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. After that debate, in December the same year a group of journalists formed “Medienhilfe-ex Yugoslavia”.
In spite of the fact that this organization has changed since then both in the mission and the way of work, it has continued to work on the improvement of the media’s role and their responsibility towards the society, social cohesion, development and other implications, especially those that refer to the political sphere. All these years Medienhilfe has been very active in the Republic of Macedonia. It has expanded its activities within the countries from Central and Eastern Europe. Primarily aimed at the media support in war conditions, the organization has later dedicated itself towards the media help in the processes of democratization, political reconstruction and building civic values, as well as to professional cooperation and strengthening the journalists and the media.
