MEM – YOUTH

Eco-tour

From 15 to 28 April, about fifty young people from several Balkans countries participated at the caravan called “Eco-tour, the goal of which was to make them familiar with the natural and cultural heritage of their countries. The caravan was organized within the activities of the South-Eastern European Youth Network (SEEYN), supported by the Danish government program FRESTA. The group of young people from the Balkans was joined by several young people from Denmark.

There were representatives from Macedonia in this eco-tour from MEM-Youth and Drom – Kumanovo. As Mr. Cvetan Nikolovski, coordinator of the activities in Macedonia from MEM- youth said, they traveled by bus through Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and the Republic of Serbia.

- We visited natural areas under protection or areas of special environmental value. We held workshops to learn more about the values of the places we had visited. In Macedonia, the group visited Stip, Lake Ohrid, and the Saint Pantelejmon Monastery in the Park-Forest Vodno, near Skopje. We organized two workshops in our country – one regarding the Arhus Convention implementation and another one regarding the Balkan big carnivores condition, said Mr. Nikolovski.
