Women pensioners’ organization – Probistip

The challenges of the third age

The Probistip branch of the Women Pensioner Association was set up in 2003. Since then, this branch has managed to offer its members interesting contents to attract their attention, as well as to attract new members. “The third age can also be nice and beautiful”, says the president of the Probistip branch, Ljubica Jakovleska. “The fact that we are retired does not necessarily mean that our lives are over. A lot can be seen and learnt and we are trying to do it together, in an organized manner”, adds Jakovleska.

Through their activities, this women organization is trying to mark the important dates. Recently, the art competition for the primary school pupils from “Nikola Karev” and “Braka Miladinovci” organized on the occasion of 8 March ended, and on the date itself, the organization organized a visit to the monument of Nada Mihajlova and later a party for the women pensioners. The events organized by the organization very often have a humanitarian purpose, such as the “Vasilica Cocktail”, when the money raised was donated for the treatment of their co-citizen. In order to meet the needs of its members, the Probistip branch organizes lectures such as: “The climatic factors and their influence on the aged people’s health”; “Diet of the third age”; “The stress and its influence on the aged people’s health, etc. The excursions are part of the organization’s programme. Last year, 52 women visited the church “St Troica” in Radovis, the monasteries in Vodoca and Veljusa, the waterfalls in Smolare and Strumica. Another excursion is planned for this year for the organization’s members.

“Our members are pleased with what the organization has planned for them. The number of those who join our activities is getting bigger. It is good because it means that we have managed to wake the activism in them and make their lives more interesting. We will certainly continue in that direction, our lives bring new challenges for us and we will try to answer them”, says Ljubica Jakovleska.
