Anniversary
Eight years of “Blesok”
In March 1998, the first issue of “Blesok” – Macedonian e-magazine which covers literature and other arts came out. The cultural institution “Blesok”, which publishes the magazine was established the same year in February. For eight years, the magazine “Blesok” (Shine) has been “shining” at the Macedonian and the international cultural scene. On the occasion of its anniversary, “Blesok” held a press conference on 7 February this year, where this year’s programme was presented. Besides the regular e-magazine, “Blesok” will publish at least 7 printed books and about 10 e-books. In 2006, the magazine will be supported by the “E-Macedonia” Foundation, property of A.D. “Makedonski Telekomunikacii” and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia.
So far over 4,000 pages of text in Macedonian and in English have been published in the past 45 editions of the magazine, including as many photos in different galleries and about 130 music extracts by more than 800 foreign and domestic authors. The cultural institution “Blesok” has published 187 e-books in 35 languages by about 100 world authors. In 2006, they are planning to publish another 10 e-books. “Blesok” has also published several CD-ROMs. BABYLONIA (www.babylonia.com.mk) is a multimedia CD-Rom, containing about 130 e-books and music by Kokan Dimusevski. “Blesok” has made over 40 web-sites, mainly in the field of culture (available at http//design.blesok.com.mk), as well as 25 printed books (22 individually and 3 in cooperation with the Macedonian PEN Centre). In order to promote Macedonia in the world, “Blesok” has established cooperation with several international institutions such as UNESCO, CEEOL (Central and Easter European On-Line Library) and BAP (Balkan Association of Publishers). “Blesok” is also the co-founder of LitKon – Zagreb (www.litkon.org), “Internet Network for Dissemination of Balkans’ Cultures”, and it was also a partner in the BalCanis Ljubljana Project (www.balcanis.com), magazine of cultures.
