1 April: Invest in your health
This day was declared the World Health Day and it marks the founding of the UN World Heath Organization (WHO). It is dedicated to strengthening the awareness on the global health problems. This year, WHO is sending a message to the governments, the organizations and the business sector to “invest in the health a build a more secure future”.
8 April: World Roma Day
The Roma World Roma day is here to point to the problems of this marginalized population on world level. At the same time, it is a day when the authentic culture and tradition of those people is celebrated. The World Roma Day gets a new meaning in the context of the Decade for Roma Inclusion, which is going on at the moment.
18 April: Cherish the monuments
The monuments are part of the history and an investment into the future. The World Monuments Day is a time to remind ourselves on the need to protect them, inform about them and respect the places that remind the important events from the past.
22 April: Planet Earth Day
This day was initiated by the civil society organizations from the United States of America, and later it got an international dimension. It a day for actions for lobbying and raising the public awareness on the global environmental problems – one of them we are facing more drastically nowadays is the global warming.
23 April: The book and the copyright
In the era of digitalization, it is good to remind ourselves on the value of reading. The world day dedicated to the books and the copyright is an occasion for promoting the literature and the authors who create it.
24 April: The animals are not guinea pigs
This is a day against using the animals as “guinea pigs” in the laboratories. People who fight for the animal rights remind that the animals, to, have rights, and the products containing the label “not tested on animals” are winning over the market.
