Open the windows
“Sponsors” will sustain the center
The activists of the association “Open the windows” in the course of October called the business sector to give them bigger support and the institutions for bigger understanding of their work, enabling access to information technology to handicapped people. “New technologies should overcome old barriers and not create new ones”, said, in that occasion, Lidija Krstevska – Dojcinovska, president of the association.
The association’s activity of mobilizing local resources is called “Sponsorship”. Companies that decide to become “association’s sponsors” are obliged to give monthly funds aimed at creating conditions for direct work with children who come to the association’s Center where they have access to information and knowledge, using the accessible information technology.
At the moment users of the Center are people at the age 5-35 and the goal is to open new centers where handicapped people will have access to computers.
In “Open the windows” they are happy with the response of future “sponsors”. “Only in a month (after the promotion), the number of interested was three times higher in comparison with the period July-October”, said Krstevska – Dojcinovska. “2.500 Euro has been collected so far (together with the equipment) and we are happy with how the things go on. Some of our present “sponsors” called us themselves and offered support. We will further continue with this activity as it will help us a lot in the Center’s sustainability”, added Lidija Krstevska – Dojcinovska.
Some of the Association’s “sponsors” are the companies: Microsoft, Duna computers, Neokom, Rudine, Medicus help, Accent…The activity is realized within the Philanthropy Grants Program, managed by the Center for Institutional Development, within the Civil Society Strengthening Project, financed by USAID and implemented by the Institute for Sustainable Communities.
