NGO Front 21/42 Green front for fight against terrorism on Planet Earth

We do not inherit the Earth from our parents, but we borrow it from our children
 

“21/42 are the Skopje planetary address coordinates – a cross-section between a …and a meridian. That is where the name Front 21/42 comes from. It is an initiative for opening a green front on this address for fight against terrorism of the human race against the Planet Earth. It is an open call for all those who are awake to create fronts on their planetary addresses” – this is how the civil society organization Front 21/42 presented itself . The organization has been founded in January 2005 as a realization of one spontaneous idea of a group of friends who share mutual interests and are trying to change the things they do not like. “There are a lot of such things, mentioned Iskra Stojkovska, Front 21/42 president, but the main enemies are considered to be: the principle of the consuming society, “you take from the nature, you use and then throw away”, the lack of basic awareness that we belong to a huge system where everyone influences everything, the lack of respect of it, that is, the egocentricity of the human race and the creation of mini-dumps everywhere.

This organization’s methods for fighting are based upon the principle “Reduce, Recycle, Reuse”. Following that principle, they realized the sustainable development multi-segment project “Circle”. In the “Revison” segment, which took place this year, three lectures on the “RRR” principles in the modern architecture and design were held, in cooperation with Elizabeta Avramovska, plastic modeling professor at the Faculty of Architecture in Skopje. The lectures aroused great interest among the students, which resulted in exhibiting 30 items that students made at the competition for practical application on “Light bodies”, at the Press Two Exit Galery, in cooperation with Prohelvetia. An invitation has already been sent to Front 21/42 to organize the lectures and the competition every year, tending “Circle” to grow into becoming a team of creative people who will create art on the “3R” principles out of “trash”. The team will be open for anyone who wants to join it.

On 22 April 2005 – the International Planet Earth Day, Front 21/42 carried out a campaign against the single use of the plastic bags promoting multiple use linen bags, called: “I am against plastic bags”, which was realized throughout the supermarkets in Skopje, in cooperation with the International School NOVA.

“Sustainable Development – Sustainable Economy” is a project that Front 21/42 organized on the invitation of the American Economic Chamber in the American Square in Skopje, containing lectures on “Differences between the the regular and the sustainable economy”, a projection of the film “The next industrial revolution” and a discussion. In our attempt to find out about the personal motive for establishing civil society organization, we spoke to Iskra Stojkovska who said that the lack of care is the thing that leads to worsening the conditions in the natural environment, and to avoid the consequences, we do not need money, but agreement. Therefore, organizing into civil society organizations makes it possible for the individual to become a relevant factor in the society, have an impact on it or try to change something in it.
