Macedonian Turks for themselves

Turkish and resedi alva, madzun, kus-kus, bovcadzik/banica and other specialties of the traditional Turkish cuisine were offered to the guests at the manifestation called "Let us present our tradition and culture" which took place on 8 October 2004 in Stip. This evening is part of the project that bears the same name and is implemented by the association "EM" (Association for full development and emancipation of the Turkish people in east Macedonia) with support from the Ministry of Culture and the business sector from Stip.

During the evening, the traditional Turkish instruments (saz, kaval, supelka, dajre, etc) were presented, and a presentation of Turkish traditional costumes, both men and women's from the region of Lakavica and Plackovica took place as well. The traditional costumes were then given as presents to the CAA "Karadza Oglan" from the village Konce.

The students from the villages of Lakavica and Plackovica performed a recital, and the performance of the Cultural Artistic Association "Karadza Oglan" was remarkable as well.

Among the 50 guests were representatives from the twin town Izmir, Turkey, representatives of the Turkish Embassy in Macedonia, as well as representatives from the state institutions, the local government and the civil society organizations.
