An incentive for a more intense inter-sector cooperation

The Government promoted the strategy for cooperation with the civil sector

The Strategy for Cooperation with the Civil Sector was officially promoted at the Macedonian Government on 21 February 2007.

“The document itself is a proof that the Government is striving for systematic improvement of its relations with the civil sector”, says in her introduction Suzana Nikodijevikj – Filipovska, manager of the sector for analyzing the policies and coordination at the Government’s General Secretariat.

The National Strategy for integrating the Republic of Macedonia in the European Union foresees the adoption of this Strategy. “The adoption of the Strategy is a contribution towards accessing Macedonia in the European Union”, thinks Daniela Trajanovska, Secretary General at the Macedonian Government. According to her, “the Strategy marks the initiation of a new relation in the Government – civil sector cooperation”.

The EU Ambassador in Macedonia, Erwan Fuere, also spoke to the present. “This is an important message that the Government is sending to the whole country and to the European Union. The Strategy marks a concrete and practical step in establishing a sustainable dialogue and partnership between the Government and the civil sector”, added Fuere. The EU Ambassador particularly emphasized the principles of cooperation: mutual trust, partnership, participation and consultations, transparency, independence and accountability.

Two days before the public presentation took place, the Strategy was presented to the national secretaries and the consultants.

The preparation of the Strategy for Cooperation with the Civil Sector is part of the European Union’s project “Technical Support of the Government’s Civil Society Department”, managed by the European Agency for Reconstruction, and implemented by a consortium of three partner organizations: COWI A/S, The Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC) and INTRAC, in close cooperation with the Government’s General Secretariat.
