Activist Just With a Click!

IT technology introduces new, cheap and effective ways for civil society organizations to reach ordinary citizens who want to support worthy causes but don’t have money, energy or simply time to get involved. First, internet offers civil society organizations a new and interactive way for presenting themselves through establishing web-sites with information about themselves, their programmes and activities.

For their beneficiaries and users, this is not only a new but a simpler and quicker way for them to access information about an organization at one location. Second, internet offers attractive and money-saving ways for these organizations to attract people who live in flood of everyday information at their workplace, home etc. Moreover, it is affective as it allows both organizations and the users to select only information that are of interest to them. There also exist only e-activism web-sites which specialize in so-called cyberactivism. Eactivist.org (www.eactivist.org) is one of such sites that works to encourage electronic activism and civic participation by providing a collection of simple, easy-to-use progressive electronic actions and tools for the eActivists.

Internet certainly is becoming a necessary tool for civil society organizations. However, this brings a danger of people disengaging from “real’ activism such as protest, letters, and petitions.
