COMMENT
Together for transparency
The holidays have come and go. It was a chance for each one of us to put aside, at least for a while, the things that had been going on before. We greeted and said farewell to the Olympics. Besides the politics (which has become kind of fashion that surprises nobody), much has been talked about the civic sector. Who spends how much, where the money go, who takes what, who and why finances it, and a number of other questions that are from time to time referred to the civil society organizations.
Civil Society Organization and the territorial organization
Common attitude for support of the democratic transformation
The organizations - members of the Committee of the Civic Platform of Macedonia held a public debate with the President of the Republic of Macedonia, Branko Crvenkovski on 23 July 2004, discussing the process of decentralization of the country, that is the proposal - law on the local government territorial organization. Participant at the debate were 50 civil society organizations. The panel discussion followed after the non-transparent conducting of the negotiation process for the new territorial organization, due to the lack of information the civil society organizations found it difficult to assume a certain attitude regarding this issue.
Euro-integration as part of some civil society organizations' agenda
Euro-integration as part of some civil society organizations' agenda
European Movement in the Republic of Macedonia. This year (EMRM) was given the MCIC award “Gert Jan van Appeldoorn” for civil society and democracy for achievement in the previous year. It was founded in 1991 and since 1992 it has been an official member of the International European Movement in Brussels and in 1993 it received the status of a full member. Today, in the process of increasing the number of civil society organizations in Macedonia that work in the field of Euro-integration, its experience is of great use.

Two 10-year jubilees
A decade dedicated to the children in Macedonia
UNICEF, the United Nations International Children Fund and the programme "Step by Step" of the Foundation for Educational and Cultural Initiatives have celebrated 10 years of working for the welfare of children in Macedonia.
EKONET
Promotion of the Internet among the Environmental CSO
EKONET started as an informal group for electronic communication consisting of members from 4 environmental civil society organizations (FOMEK - Skopje, Proaktiva - Skopje, Biosfera - Bitola and Planetum - Strumica) in January 2002, with support from the Milieukontakt office in Macedonia. In November 2003 EKONET gained a legal status and became the official Centre for Electronic Communication - EKONET.
VIEWS: Dr Biljana Vankovska
(Ir)responsibility of the civic sector
Not so long ago, it seemed that we were witnesses of regeneration of the civic sector: the post-conflict period and especially the one in the eve of the parliamentary elections from 2002 created an illusion that finally we would release ourselves from a fragmented, impotent and sterile civil society. Under the motto “Power is in people”, the non-governmental sector rushed into the actual processes, and of vital importance for the country.
Rotary Club - Veles
Working under the motto "Help above all"
The Rotary Club - Veles (RC Veles) has been a member of the Rotary International Family since 2001, and the chartering of the club was done on 19 and 20 April this year.
INTERVIEW: Tanja Atanasovska-Petrovska, editor of “Ecology”
Ecology is the job I choose
Sustainability – a frequently discussed topic
Development and healthy environment of present and future generations
Sustainability is a frequently discussed topic recently, especially among civil society organizations and in the civil sector in general. Donors look for sustainability of projects they provide financial support for, ecologists talk about sustainable development in the production of food, organizations of marginalized citizens stand up for decreasing poverty and differences in the standard of living.
