Information Service for the NGO and the citizens

New incentive in the cooperation with the local government

The Information Service for the NGO and the citizens has recently been opened in Radovis in cooperation with the local government. It is a concrete way and a method for developing the cooperation beween the civil society organizations and the local government in Radovis.

According to the Information Service representatives, one of the problems that the civil society organizations in Radovis face was the non-existence of a centre that would support them, like the centres in the niighboring municipalities of Stip and Strumica. Another problem was the lack of information and the lack of an instrument for cooperation and informing between the civil society organizations and the local government.

“So far, the local government has neither prioritised the cooperation with the civil society organizations nor has it involved them in the creation of the local policy or the decision-making processes”, says Ljupce Efnusev, a person in charge of the Information Service. “Therefore, we realized the need of this service that would enable the civil society organizations to directly communicate with the local government’, he added. At the Information Service they hope the future cooperation with the local government will help the civil society organizations and the public to take part in resolving the problems in the community. The citizens and the civil society organizations can get information about the process of decentralization in Radovis, the new ways in which the local government operates, as well as free space for their activities using technical equipment (computer, fax machine), etc.

“We are expecting the transparency and the range of information regarding the work and the authorities of the local government to increase”, says Efnusev. “We will make efforts to channel and organize the activities the activities of all civil society organizations from the municipality and we are ready to face the new challenges and address all issues of relevance for the citizens in our municipality”.

The Information Service is partly supported by the US Embassy and it is part of the Macedonian Center for Independent Initiative. The Service is located at SRC “25 May”, bul. Aleksandar Makedonski bb, Radovis. You can contact it at is_radivis@yahoo.com or on the telephone number 032 / 634 – 711.
