Successful civic action in Tetovo

"Say Macedonia" attracted a lot of people

Within the civic action "Say Macedonia", that started on 29 March 2004, in the beginning of April a campaign was organized in Tetovo for collecting signatures for support of the open protest letter to the European Council, as well as signing the cards and sending them to the above mentioned recipient. The action was realized by the Tetovo civic organizations Youth Alliance and the Centre for Democratic and Economic Development. The activities started with a press-conference that took place in the open air in the centre of the town, and the five-day action was assessed to be more than successful, since there was a mass civic participation. Almost all electronic and printed media in the Tetovo region joined the action, as well as a number of foreign representatives that are working at the moment in Macedonia. The media had an opportunity to record a real civic action of mass signing, especially if we take into consideration the fact that the civic support was equal by all ethnic groups that live in this region.
