Richness of the world is within diversity
“Open the windows” – is an association that enables access for handicapped people to information technology through various kinds of activities. Its efforts, among other things, are to successfully animate the business sector to donate part of its funds and equipment so that the users are able to join the modern world.
It is one of the many civil society organizations that have presented the second, parallel picture of the society in the public in the past years, coming out of the windows in towns and villages in Macedonia.
The need for a more visible, louder, more direct presentation of the reality of people with different kinds of obstacles in the everyday functioning in today’s world, from faster passing the necessary legal regulation, to its faster effective implementation, could be seen at this year’s sixth NGO fair, the Civil Society Forum, which was held on 16 and 17 November in Skopje, under the title “Equal Opportunities for Everyone”. Those present heard experiences, expert opinions, attitudes and condemnations against the slow pace of changes in the sphere of establishing equality among all citizens, regardless of their grouping on any basis, experiences were compared with the rest of the world and positive examples were pointed out that lead ahead.
Persistence, will, highly set goals, along with building strategies for fight against stereotype opinions, against people that experience the world as a black and white film in which the positions are familiar and unchangeable in advance, are some of the elements on which winners in the civic sector base their success.
Regardless of the fact whether they like it or not, state and local authorities, business sector are to help more in opening the windows, as it is considered to be inevitable in the global world. Some of these partners of the civic sector become more flexible and the others still need time to understand that the new generations overcome stereotypes fast and that sitting behind imaginary barricades makes their kingdoms dark and unattractive.
Richness is within diversity, it makes life more beautiful and the beauty has never, fortunately, had a material price.
