Senior International Consultant for conducting advanced training on anti-discrimination
Programme – Macedonia without discrimination
The Programme’s overall goal is to contribute to the development of the just society, free of discrimination, where all individuals enjoy rights for equal treatment, as well as benefits of diversity.
Within the Programme, a project for Capacity building for civil society organisations is implemented by Macedonian Center for International Cooperation (MCIC) with the financial support of the OSCE Spillover Monitor Mission to Skopje, during May – October 2008.
The key objectives of the project are as follows:
- To strengthen the civil society organizations’ capacities of promotion of equal opportunities and non-discrimination in Macedonia, through advocacy, lobbying and networking.
- To strengthen the civil society organizations’ capacities in the field of the European legal framework pertaining to discrimination and equal opportunities in accordance with the European and OSCE standards.
In the frame of this project a 3-day advanced training on antidiscrimination will be conducted during October 2008. A pair of a local and an international expert should deliver the training.
Objective of the training is to provide the participants with advance knowledge and skills on antidiscrimination like establishing of systems for identification of discrimination and templates for reaction, mechanisms for continued system for monitoring of discrimination, legal advices for equal opportunities and antidiscrimination.
The international expert should also provide the participants with information for the most relevant case-law on discrimination in Europe (preferably Strasburg Jurisprudence).
For the needs of the training, one expert shall be hired.
II. Tasks and responsibilities of the expert:
- To prepare and deliver relevant lectures and presentations in the field of anti-discrimination;
- To prepare training materials (e.g. case studies, simulation exercises) in line with the inter-active training methodology, and submit them to the Project Officer seven days prior the training session;
- To coordinate with the other expert to reach maximum integrity and to avoid overlapping of lectures, themes, etc.;
- To prepare training report and provide Project Officer with it and all related working materials upon completion of training session;
- University education in law or political sciences, and six or more years relevant work experience in Human Rights/ Non-Discrimination;
- Thorough knowledge of the current political, legislative as well as lobbying developments regarding anti-discrimination in Europe;
- Experience in delivering lectures, presentations and inter-active workshops both before professional and lay target audiences;
- Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural, ethnic and religious background, different gender, and diverse political views;
- Excellent communication and organization skills;
- Fluent spoken and written English.
IV. Selection of the expert:
The length of assignment is 4 days in total. Interested candidates should submit their CV and financial offer (daily fee) to Macedonian Center for International Cooperation, st. Please note that the accommodation in Skopje, subsistence and plane ticket will be covered directly by MCIC. On the basis of the received CVs, and financial offers the one most suitable international candidate will be identified and contracted. The applied selection procedure shall be closed on the 6th of August 2008.
Only short listed candidates will be notified. Applications received after the closing deadline will not be considered.
