MJA celebrated 62 and OGAE 5 years o existence
The Macedonian Journalists’ Association marked its 62ng anniversary on 17 February 2008. On that occasion, a formal annual assembly took place on 20 February and a conference on “Journalists against the corruption”. The award for research journalist story was also presented, which was the final phase of the project “Journalists against the corruption” that has been implemented by MJA with financial support from ISC and USA. Journalists from Skopje and from the six regional MJA centers in Tetovo, Bitola, Ohrid, Strumica, Kumanovo and Stip attended the conference. The journalists adopted a “Declaration against the corruption” which is a contribution to the Macedonian Journalists’ Code. The presentation of the award for a research journalist story is a traditional event, supported by the Foundation Open Society Institute – Macedonia. MJA laureate this year is Aleksandar Pisarev who received the award for its story ???? by the borders”, published in “Forum Plus” on 20 and 27 July 2007. On 21 February, MJA visited the Macedonian president, Branko Crvenkovski, who talked to the journalists about the current problems of their profession.
Another civil society association marked its anniversary in February – the OGAE Club Macedonia. It is club of Eurovision contest fans, which was set up 5 years ago with a mission to support the Macedonian representatives at the Eurovision contests. They have been organizing the Eurovision evening, which takes place before the national competition for four years in a row.
