Eco-bus

A little different, much better

On the occasion of 22 April, the Planet Earth Day and within the project "Eco-Bus", the civic association "Proaktiva" from Skopje organized the promotion of two buses from the Public Transport Enterprise, driven on natural gas. The promotion took place on 19 April, under the motto "a little different, much better".

We gave all the interested some printed material containing data on pollution in Skopje and Macedonia, especially on pollution caused by the transport and what would be the benefits for the environment if the public transport buses used natural gas", said the project coordinator, Vladimir Karciski from "Proaktiva".

The pollution caused by the traffic is one of the key problems in Macedonia, as well as in the capital - Skopje. If the buses used natural gas instead of oil derivates, the pollution would decrease (according to measures done in Bulgaria) three times.

The Public Transport Enterprise operates with about 280 buses every day. By using a hybrid energy, the emission of pollutants could decrease three times, or more than 2500 tones on annual level.

The project coordinator is Vladimir Karcinski from "Proaktiva", and the project is realized in cooperation with the PTE Skopje, the kindergartens, "Koco Racin" and "Fortuna" Radio and supported by "Millieukontakt Oost - Europa".
