Project for modernization of the education

Quality teaching through trainings

In the school year 2006/2007, the Macedonian Center for International Cooperation implemented six training courses at six primary schools in Macedonia. The goal of the training courses was to contribute towards promoting the quality of teaching and increasing the participation in the target schools of the project. The topics that were selected by the schools were: project management, training for communication skills, participative approach towards studying and school management.

“I really liked the concept of the project, that is the training itself. Our school is one of the biggest in the municipality and has a relatively good infrastructure. It takes donations, starting from central heating to improving the hygiene. Also, due to the big number of students, the building should be enlarged, which also takes engagement on our part”, said Selajdin Destani, a teacher at “Bajram Shabani” primary school from Kumanovo.

“What we received as knowledge and skills at this training, could be applied in future – preparing strategic plans and reaching our goals. These trainings should continue in future. In the beginning, we thought that some things could be solved on their own, without our engagement, but in the end all of us came to the conclusion that we should take concrete steps on our own”, Destan added after the termination of the course.

MCIC services for delivering trainings were also used by the primary schools “Sande Sterjoski” from Kicevo, “25 May” from Cento, Skopje, “Petra Zdravkovski – Penko” from Skopje, “Goce Delcev” from Negotino and “Maca Ovcarova” from Veles.

In July this year, the Education Development Bureau accredited MCIC for delivering teacher trainings for the schools involved in the project called “Modernization of the Education”, financed by the World Bank, the Kingdom of Holland and the Macedonian Government. The Bureau will also prepare a catalogue of trainings that will be offered to the schools and from which they will select the type of training they need and for which they will dedicate a certain fund from the money left at their disposal in the project.
