Tolerant Youth

Young people are the focus of their interests 

The civil society association “Tolerant Youth” is a non-party and non-for-profit organization founded in 2001 in Debar. Its goal is to contribute to the process of building peace and stable democratic community for all citizens, based on the principles of rule of law and social welfare and by promoting the democratic values, human rights, tolerance, interculturalism, peace and peaceful conflict resolution.

The organization works in the direction of developing the civil society by promoting dialogue between individuals and groups who hold different opinions and who will find a common interest in that process for building a democratic and peaceful society, as well as cultural exchange and cooperation and contribute to reconciling opposed groups and individuals by using methods for peaceful and non-violent conflict resolution and building relaxed atmosphere in the community, an atmosphere for mutual understanding and respecting the differences, as well as eliminating all kinds of prejudices, hatred, intolerance and discrimination on the bases of sex, religion, nationality, race, etc.

During the past few years, the organization has implemented a number of activities related to the young people from Debar such as youth radio programs, exhibitions, health and education projects, etc. In January this year, “Tolerant Youth” started implementing two projects: “Bank of Ideas” which foresees opening a center for promoting the potential capacity of the business – sector for encouraging the investors for municipality development and “Employment through Education”, a project that foresees a six-month marketing-research and planning training for 45 young people aged 18-30 from the local government units from Debar and Centar Zupa. The training course will also include financial working – book keeping, public relations, etc. “Tolerant Youth” realizes cooperation with a number of organizations from Macedonia, as well as with organizations from Albania and Bulgaria.
