REC Anniversary 15 years of work for environmental causes

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central and Eastern Europe – REC, is celebrating 15 years of work. It is also known as “Bush’s Centre”, since it was established on the initiative of the-then president of the USA, George Bush Senior, as a reaction to his concern regarding the condition with the environment in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, after he had completed his tour round this region. For 15 years, REC has been implementing the environmental philosophy and culture of environmental care, as well as the civic involvement in this field, in the total pf 16 countries from this region where it has local offices.

On the occasion of this jubilee, on 19 October 2005 in Skopje, a REC promotional day took place. On that date, the Director of REC Headquarters in Budapest, Marta Schigeti Boniphert visited Macedonia and held a public lecture at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Skopje on: “The Eurointegration process in the field of environment: new roles in the society for efficient results”.
