The Organization of Turkish Women in Macedonia – OTWM-DERYA is a civil society, non-for-profit, multicultural organization established in Skopje in 1999. Its goal is to carry out activities within the local government. Members of the organization are about 300 volunteers of different religious and ethnic origin, 20 of which are active. The organization is open for cooperation with similar or same organizations from Macedonia and abroad.

DERYA’S mission is to define the human, minority, women rights, respect their voice, encourage their emancipation and enable their complete integration in all social trends, as well ads education on various issues  - medicine and health, gender, democracy, strengthening the civil society, conflict resolution, etc.

DERYA’S goal is to educate, support and encourage women in the fight for their greater inclusion in politics, women and human rights in general, gender equality, violence against women, health education, etc.

The Organization of Turkish Women has so far implemented 31 projects, has organized workshops for women education, raising their awareness on the local traditions, culture, returning the trust in the human relations, raising the level of interethnic communication, tolerance and so on. This year, one of DERYA’s imperatives is to act in the direction of strengthening the organizational capacities at all levels, as well as potential networking with other similar or same civil society organizations in order to realize the set tasks and goals more efficiently and accomplish better results within the community.
